Special Education Advocacy ยท New Jersey

You shouldn't have to
navigate this alone.

I help families understand the IEP process, communicate clearly with school teams, and make sure their child's plan is actually working โ€” with calm, knowledgeable support at every step.

๐ŸŒฟ

Is your child struggling in school?

Missing assignments. Shutting down. Tests that don't reflect what they know. If it's not clicking despite everyone's best efforts, I can help you understand why โ€” and what to ask for.

You're not alone

Many families feel exactly
the same way

"Most parents don't need to become experts. They need someone who already is one โ€” and who's on their side."

โ€” Special Needs Solutions

My job is to translate school language into plain language, help you identify what your child truly needs, and make sure the plan on paper becomes real support in the classroom.

Who I help

Families at every stage
of this process

Whether you're just starting to notice something is off, or you've had an IEP for years that isn't working, there's a place to begin.

๐Ÿ”

Parents who know something is wrong, but aren't sure what to ask for

I help you clarify your concerns, understand your options, and decide whether to request an evaluation or a team meeting.

๐Ÿ“„

Families confused by school paperwork, reports, or IEP/504 language

Evaluation reports, eligibility decisions, and IEP goals can be overwhelming. I translate them into plain language you can use.

๐Ÿงฉ

Parents who suspect a learning difference

Reading, writing, attention, or processing challenges โ€” I help you understand whether a school evaluation makes sense and how to request one.

๐Ÿ“‹

Families whose child has an IEP or 504 that isn't working

Having a plan isn't enough. I help you identify what's missing and how to request meaningful changes at your next meeting.

๐Ÿ’™

Parents dealing with school stress, avoidance, or frequent calls home

When behavior is getting in the way of learning, I help teams understand what the student may be communicating โ€” and build supports around that.

๐Ÿค

Families who want clearer communication with the school team

I help you enter meetings as a partner โ€” with clear questions, calm language, and a plan for follow-through.

Not sure where to start?

Different families enter
at different points

I help you find the next best step โ€” without overwhelm.

01
"There's no plan yet."
  • Clarify concerns and gather examples together
  • Decide whether requesting a school evaluation makes sense
  • Write a clear, parent-friendly evaluation request letter
02
"We have supports, but it's not enough."
  • Understand the difference between informal supports, a 504, and an IEP
  • Identify what's missing and what to ask for next
  • Organize communication so the school team understands the concern
03
"We have an IEP, but it's not working."
  • Review goals and accommodations for clarity and practicality
  • Prepare focused, collaborative meeting questions
  • Create a follow-through tracker so supports don't disappear after the meeting
What I offer

Support for the whole child โ€”
and the whole family

I help families make sense of the IEP process and build a plan that supports their child academically, socially, and emotionally โ€” with clear steps and calm communication.

Service 01

IEP Clarity + Meeting Prep

I help families understand evaluations and school paperwork, identify priorities, and prepare for meetings with clear questions and collaborative communication โ€” so you walk in informed and confident.

Service 02

Follow-Through + Implementation Support

After meetings, I help organize next steps and provide practical follow-up documents โ€” meeting summaries, action checklists, and parent-friendly request language โ€” so supports don't get lost after the meeting.

Service 03

Behavior Support Planning (Dignity-First)

When behavior is getting in the way of learning, I help families and school teams listen for what students may be communicating and create respectful, practical supports that reduce conflict and increase access to learning.

About me

An advocate who knows
both sides of the table

I'm a New Jersey special education teacher with a Master's Degree in Special Education and over 14 years of experience working in public schools with students who have a wide range of learning, behavioral, and mental health needs.

I've sat at the IEP table hundreds of times โ€” as a teacher, a case manager, and an advocate for students whose needs weren't fully understood or met. I know the language, the process, the law (IDEA, FAPE, LRE), and โ€” most importantly โ€” I know what good support actually looks like in the classroom.

My work with Special Needs Solutions brings that experience to families who need a calm, knowledgeable partner โ€” someone who can translate the system and help them get real results for their child.

Questions

Things families often ask

Is this the same as a special education attorney?
No โ€” I'm an educator and advocate, not a lawyer. Most families don't need legal action; they need someone who understands the system, speaks the language, and can help them communicate effectively. If legal support becomes necessary, I can help you understand when and how to access it.
Can I work with you even if my child already has an IEP?
Absolutely. Many families come to me with a plan that isn't working. I help you understand what's in the plan, what may be missing, and how to request changes at your next annual review or in a separate meeting.
What if I'm not sure my child has a disability?
That's exactly the right time to reach out. I help families clarify their concerns, understand what a school evaluation involves, and decide whether requesting one makes sense โ€” without any pressure or assumptions.
Will you come to my child's IEP meeting with me?
Yes โ€” meeting support is one of the most valuable things I offer. I'll help you prepare, attend with you as your support, take notes, and help you follow up afterward so nothing falls through the cracks.
Do you only work with families in New Jersey?
My primary experience is in NJ public schools, and I can attend meetings in person within NJ. However, many of my services โ€” consultation, document review, meeting prep โ€” can be done virtually with families anywhere.
What does a first consultation look like?
It's a free, no-pressure 30-minute call. We talk about what's happening with your child, where you are in the process, and what kind of support might be most helpful. There's no commitment required.
